Freemasons celebrate their centenary
7:30pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012
A CENTENARY celebration was held at the Masonic Hall in Worcester to mark 100 years of a Freemasons Lodge in Pershore.
The meeting was held on the exact date of the anniversary of Avon Lodge and was under the control of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Worcestershire.
The assembled brethren were made up of Grand Lodge officers, provincial officers of Worcestershire and other provinces and freemasons from far and wide, all of whom enjoyed a seven-course banquet.
“The arrangements for the event were first discussed 10 years ago and a steering committee met, initially at three monthly intervals and then at monthly intervals for the past two years,” said Brother Graham Hobby. “All those brethren involved felt well rewarded by the result for their efforts. It has not been overlooked that their wives contributed considerably in many ways.”
