In the hot seat for America

MEMBERS of Colwall Rotary Club lent a helping hand when they put youngsters who were bidding to win a dream trip to America through their paces.

Students Henry Cosh, Matt Gilchrist and Alice Brankin participated in mock interviews with Rotarians and practiced the presentations they hope will see them chosen as district representatives at the week-long Rotary World Affairs Seminar, which will held in the USA in June.

The event, held at the Malvern Hills Hotel, Jubilee Drive, also saw the winner of Colwall Rotary’s young chef competition, Louis Tyler, put through his paces.

Louis, a year 10 pupil at The Chase School, Malvern, cooked up a meal for 30 guests as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming national Rotary Young Chef semi-finals.

Colwall Rotary president Granville Orange said: “We are enormously proud of these young people and are delighted that we have such fine candidates representing the area at these prestigious events.

“Opportunities like these can go a long way in realising the future potential of the candidates. “Regardless of the outcome of the next rounds of selection, we hope that the competitions have proved to the students how impressed we are at their skills, hard work and determination.”
