Jubilee is good news for souvenir company

A BOOM in business at a Malvern firm is being attributed to the Royal Family.

The Coaster Company, based in Spring Lane South, saw sales grow by eight per cent last year as it turned out a range of souvenir coasters celebrating the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The coasters found their way into a wide range of locations including 10 Downing Street and they were also featured on NBC television in America.

Now with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee due in a few months, sales director Ken Beecroft is predicting another massive surge in sales.

“As a UK manufacturer we were able to supply royal wedding coasters far more quickly than importers and this enabled us to develop sales to a considerable number of new customers, particularly London souvenir retailers,” he said.

“They have stayed with us since and have already started to buy in stocks of our Diamond Jubilee products.”

The Coaster Company already supplies Diamond Jubilee coasters to the gift shops on the Sandringham and Balmoral estates and launched its range to the wider retail trade during an exhibition in Exeter earlier this month.

Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be taking place across the country over an extended bank holiday weekend from Saturday to Tuesday, June 2-5.
