Swapping a rugby pitch for the life of a lawyer

ONE of Worcester Warriors’ star performers is already planning for life after he hangs up his boots by stepping into the shoes of a solicitor.
Former Samoan international Dale Rasmussen has joined Thursfields Solicitors at their Foregate Street office on a six-month work experience placement.
The Auckland-born centre, who has made more than 180 appearances for the Sixways-based outfit since 2004, will link up with the firm one day a week to gain experience of the firm’s family, litigation, corporate and commercial, employment, property and probate departments.
Mr Rasmussen is no stranger to the legal world having studied law prior to his professional rugby playing career, as well as holding a bachelor of laws degree from Auckland University.
Nick O’Hara, managing partner at Thursfields, said: “We are delighted that Dale has chosen Thursfields as the firm to support him as he plans to re-join the legal profession.
“His attitude and work ethic epitomise those values which we hold at Thursfields – namely quality, teamwork, honesty, flexibility and innovation.
“Dale is not the first professional rugby player to make the move into the legal profession. Ex-England international Brian Moore has had a very successful legal career and was partner of a City law firm. I am sure that Dale will emulate his example.”
Mr Rasmussen, who is keen to make the move back into the legal profession once his professional rugby career comes to an end, said: “I am delighted to have been offered this fantastic opportunity by Thursfields Solicitors. It is my ambition to return to New Zealand with some high quality legal experience. My time with Thursfields will allow me that opportunity.”
