Festival is in contest final
4:01pm Thursday 18th March 2010

THREE of the best tourism businesses in Worcestershire and Herefordshire have reached the finals of the 2010 Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, sponsored by the Caravan Club.
Hidelow House Cottages at Acton Beauchamp, near Bromyard, and Poston Mill Caravan Park at Peterchurch, near Hereford, will go head-to-head with attractions and destinations from across the country in a bid to win their category.
At the same time the Asparagus Festival in Evesham will compete with Festival at the Edge in Shropshire in a new category this year – the Where Else but England award.
Sam Warnock, head of visitor marketing for Heart of England, said: “It’s a testament to the fantastic tourism offering in the Heart of England that we have been shortlisted in five categories in all – there are two others in Shropshire and Birmingham – which is three more than last year.
“The awards really showcase the wealth of high quality and affordable holiday experiences on offer in the region.”
All 46 national finalists were selected from more than 100 regional winners submitted by regional tourist boards and were rigorously assessed by independent assessors and a team of judges to make it through to the national final.
All the winners will be unveiled at an awards ceremony in the Corn Exchange at the Brighton Dome on April 23, which is in celebration of St George’s Day.
